As a reminder, this is the final week to register your student and pre-order dinner for our May Madness Dodgeball Tournament, which is next Friday May 4, 2018. Is your child not interested in playing dodgeball? No problem! Anyone can come for dinner, watch classmates play, see staff in the dunk booth, or check out fabulous raffle baskets our teams have put together. Food options are Anna’s Pizzeria, Chick-Fil-A, and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts! Kona Ice and Bruster's Ice Cream will also have food trucks on campus that night. There’s something for everyone as we also celebrate the school’s 40th birthday. We look forward to seeing you and your family at this 4th annual event. It’s always a great time, so don’t miss out! Registration closes Sunday 4/29 at midnight. Also, if you’re not in the mood to cook Wednesday or Thursday this week, Glory Days Grill in the Publix Pointe Shopping Center on Kelly Road is hosting our school for a dining event. It’s all day, both days. Leave your itemized receipt in the designated "AMS basket" for us to get 10% contribution. All receipts count, so let your friends and neighbors know. This is an easy way to support our school!

On Thursday, November 30th, our team will embark on a science field trip to Marbles Museum in downtown Raleigh. This trip will feature both IMAX and STEM learning labs. Because we already have your student medical/permission forms, we simply need payment for the field trip. More details are below. Students will need to bring to school: 1. A good hearty breakfast/snack and drink for the morning at 9:00am. 2. A bag lunch and drink for our return to AMS at 1:30. We will eat our snack in our classrooms before we leave for Marbles. Because lunch will not be until we return at 1:30, it is important that students bring a hearty breakfast/snack to eat before we leave. Cost: $15.00 for Marbles or $25.00 to cover both Marbles and the Tiger Rescue in the spring. Make checks payable to Apex Middle School. You may also pay online on the AMS Website. As we complete the first quarter of 6th grade, we have a tradition at Apex Middle School to hold student-led conferences for our families. Student-led conferences help students take responsibility for their academic success, foster goal setting, and promote trust and partnership between the students, parents and teachers. It has been our experience that parents who participate are enthusiastic and positive about this approach. It is an opportunity for support and a celebration of success. Since this may be a new conference format for some of you, we will give you some background on our goals for this:
The conferences are planned to last approximately 30 minutes. There will be several conferences scheduled at the same time as there will be a couple of groups in each of our classrooms. The teachers will be present for facilitation of the process as necessary. Should you need a private conference with the teachers, we will need to make arrangements for a different time. Student-led Conferences Date: Tuesday, November 14th Conference Slots: 30-minute time slots between 4:00-6:30 To sign up, please visit: http://tinyurl.com/bobcatconferences Please sign up for a time slot by Tuesday, November 7th |
